Barney Desmazery

As the longest serving member of Good Food, skills & shows editor Barney has written & tested thousands of recipes, worked with practically every British celebrity chef, as well as making countless videos, hosting live events and making all the sourdough content for our masterclasses and webinars. Barney started his cooking career alongside Jamie Oliver at Westminster Kingsway College completing a chef’s diploma, before going on to work at top restaurants in London, France and Australia. After swapping restaurant kitchens for test kitchens, Barney worked behind-the-scenes on food shoots before being asked to come and work at Good Food. Barney draws on his years of experience and brings expertise to the more specialist sides of food with his knowledge for things like sourdough baking, foraging, seasonal ingredients and open fire cooking. Barney writes the popular Next Level series which sees him bettering the nation’s favourite recipes. He is also responsible for bringing Good Food to life at our live events. You’ll find him hosting the interview stages, demonstrating recipes and overseeing the food at our Show restaurant. Barney has edited lots of books and been on national radio including BBC Radio 2, and Radio 4’s Food Program.
