Lovely dried orange peel, almond and fig notes, with fresh acidity.
Silver: Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Vintage Port, £20
This brought to mind hedgerow fruit, elderberries and plums – sweet, but with appealing woody notes.

Bronze: Lidl Armilar Ruby Port, £6.49
Stewed fruits and spice – think blackcurrant jam, nutmeg and cinnamon. Try using it in place of vermouth in a negroni.
