If there’s one thing we Brits should take from Italian culture, it’s aperitivo hour. Now it’s easier than ever as the UK’s guru on Italian spirits, Giuseppe Gallo, has launched Italicus to revive Rosolio di Bergamotto, a long-forgotten aperitif spirit with an ABV of 20%.

Produced at a family-owned distillery established in 1906 in Moncalieri, Torino, Italicus champions the bergamot fruit (the distinctive flavour in earl grey tea) and has hints of rose, lavender and ripe citrus with floral spice on the finish. Perfect topped with prosecco. £30.25/70cl, thewhiskyexchange.com
