Check out our guide to flaxseed, including where to buy it and plenty of recipe inspiration, then read about what is nutritional yeast, aquafaba and agar agar.

What is flaxseed?

Flaxseed refers to the seeds of the flax plant, also known as linseed. The seeds can be ground to make a vegan egg replacement in sponge, cookie and brownie recipes. Mix 1 tbsp milled flaxseed to 3 tbsp of water for a few minutes and use as you would a whole egg. Elsewhere, the seeds can be used in flapjacks, porridge and smoothies, to add fibre and omega-3 fatty acids.
