What is gram flour?

Gram flour, also known as chickpea flour, is made from ground chickpeas. It’s naturally gluten free and contains more protein than other flours. Traditionally used in Indian and Middle Eastern cooking, it’s a staple ingredient in the batter for bhajis and pakoras, and is often used in flatbreads.

Where to buy gram flour

Gram flour is widely available in most supermarkets (often in the gluten-free or world foods aisle), online or at specialist retailers. Here are few well-known options:

M&S Gram Flour, £1.95/1kg, Ocado

Doves Farm Gram Flour, £7.99/1kg, Amazon

Shipton Mill Gram Flour, £2.30/750g, Shipton Mill
