How the best almond milk taste test worked

Five members of the olive team conducted a blind taste test to find the most flavoursome shop-bought almond milk. We tasted all of the biggest almond milk brands widely available in the UK. The group choose an overall winner and the rest all winning under specific categories.


The results for the best almond milk

Best overall almond milk:

Plenish organic 6% almond milk

About the almond milk: This almond milk is made with filtered water, 6% almonds and sea salt. It containers no sweeteners or stabilisers and is suitable for vegans.

Comments: With a well-rounded toasty flavour, this smooth almond milk is great drunk on its own or in a smoothie.

Innocent almond dairy alternative milk

About the almond milk: Made with spring water, 5.8% almonds and sea salt, this almond milk is suitable for vegans.

Comments: This almond milk was a little more watery than Plenish, but had a pleasant toasty, salty flavour.

About the almond milk: This almond drink is made with natural spring water, organic rice, 1% almond Italian almonds, organic cold-pressed sunflower oil and sea salt. It is organic and suitable for vegans.

Comments: This almond milk is great for those with a sweet tooth, with a very sweet marzipan-like flavour and creamy texture.

About the almond milk: Made with water, 5% almonds, sea salt and stabilisers, this almond water has 0% sugar and is suitable for vegans.

Comments: We thought this almond milk was a bit bland and watery, however it had a pleasant and strong nutty scent.

Alpro organic almond milk

About the almond milk: This almond milk is made primarily with water and 2.3% almonds. It is organic, suitable for vegans and has no sugar.

Comments: This almond milk was too watery and bland compared to the others we tried.

About the almond milk: This almond milk is made with filtered water and 9% almonds. It is suitable for vegans.

Comments: This almond milk had more of a lumpy texture and watery flavour when compared to others we tried.
