Potted shrimp
The spiced salted butter sauce makes this elegant starter extra-special – the shrimps need to be swimming in puddles of it. The crumpets are excellent at soaking up the buttery goodness, too
Fig and goat's cheese filo parcels
Fresh figs are stuffed with peppered goat’s cheese and baked in crispy filo pastry parcels. Serve them for an easy vegetarian nibble or starter

This is a very customisable drink – you can swap the white vermouth for rosé, choose your favourite gin, switch the garnish for a twist of lemon or, in the case of rosé vermouth, perhaps a slice of cucumber. Up the umami with an olive stuffed with blue cheese or dirty the martini with a splash of brine.
