How to make the perfect strawberry mojito: mixologist's tips

  • To get the maximum juice out of your limes, roll them under your hands on a worksurface a couple of times to help release the juices.
  • Switch up the berries – you could try raspberries or blackberries instead.

Strawberry mojito recipe

  • 2-3 tsp caster sugar
    plus 1 tbsp
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges
    plus an extra wedge for the sugar rim
  • 8-10 fresh mint leaves
    plus a sprig to garnish
  • small handful of chopped ripe strawberries
    plus a whole strawberry to garnish
  • 50ml white rum
  • soda water

Method

  • step 1

    Put 1 tbsp sugar on a small plate and spread evenly. Run a lime wedge around the rim of a large tumbler or highball glass and dip the rim into the sugar until crusted.

  • step 2

    Put the lime wedges, mint and remaining sugar into a highball glass and muddle together using the end of a rolling pin. Add the strawberries and gently muddle again to release the juices.

  • step 3

    Pour over the rum and gently stir. Add ice, top up with soda water and garnish with a mint sprig and whole strawberry.
