Venison meatballs recipe

  • 300g venison mince
  • ½ red onion
    grated
  • 1 garlic clove
    crushed
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp ground turmeric
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • handful of coriander
    finely chopped
  • olive oil
    for frying

CHOPPED SALAD

  • 2 tomatoes
    diced
  • ¼ cucumber
    diced
  • ½ red onion
    diced
  • ½ lemon
    juiced
  • 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • handful of mint leaves
    torn

TO SERVE

  • hummus
  • coriander leaves
  • puffy flatbreads
  • chilli sauce

Method

  • step 1

    Put the mince in a bowl with the onion, garlic, spices and coriander. Season generously, then mix everything together really well. Roll into 20 meatballs.

  • step 2

    Toss together the salad ingredients.

  • step 3

    Heat a frying pan with a little oil, then cook the meatballs for 10 mins or until browned on all sides and cooked through. Serve the meatballs with the salad, flatbreads and other accompaniments.
