  • 200g steak mince
  • ½ small onion
    grated
  • chopped to make 2 tbsp cornichons or gherkins
  • 4 slices emmenthal cheese
  • to serve lettuce
  • to serve sliced tomato
  • 2 crusty buns
    halved and lightly toasted

ranch dressing

  • 2 tbsp mayo
  • 2 tbsp yoghurt
  • ½ tbsp of chopped dill
  • ½ tbsp of finely chopped onion
  • ½ clove garlic
    crushed
  • ½ tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Method

  • step 1

    Mix all the ranch dressing ingredients together and season.

  • step 2

    Put the mince, onion and pickles in a bowl. Season really well then mix and form into 2 burgers. Oil and season both sides then cook for 2-3 minutes each side in a hot pan or griddle until cooked through. Top with the cheese and cover with a lid until it melts.

  • step 3

    Spread some dressing on the base of each bun. Top with lettuce, tomatoes then the burgers. Spoon over more dressing, put on the tops and serve.
