DF Mexico, London: quick restaurant review
Olive reviews DF Mexico, Thomasina Miers’ Tex-Mex restaurant in Spitalfields. Try a ‘bad boy’ steak burrito and one of their wicked cocktails.
Wahaca founders Thomasina Miers and Mark Selby’s new 18-month residency at The Old Truman Brewery was inspired by a road trip in the US/Mexico, and although the authentic flavours of Mexico are all present and correct, it’s delivered in a belt-busting Tex-Mex style.
Steak burritos at DF Mexico come in two sizes, ‘house’ or ‘bad boy’ (ie: giant). Pork pibil tacos are two large, soft tortillas packed with spicy slow-cooked meat, frijoles and pickled pink onions. Beers include a house pale ale specially brewed for DF by Brixton Brewery, but don’t leave without trying a fully-loaded raspberry and hibiscus frozen margarita.
MUST TRY: Chilli beef torta, cup of corn, soft serve ice cream with dulche de leche and candied peanut. dfmexico.co.uk
