This beautiful room at Tom Kerridge’s Corinthia hotel restaurant includes a kitchen range where his chefs cook dishes for up to 16 guests, sharing stories and techniques as they work. Guests select a set menu from options that, for mains, might include beef wellington, clotted cream mash, red wine sauce and garlic roasted Hispi. Enoteca Turi, Sloane Square
Home to a legendary Italian wine collection, part of which is displayed in its 28-seat wine cellar and PDR. Staff expertly guide guests through the list, including 20 wines by the glass. Bao Noodle Shop, Shoreditch
The Shoreditch noodle shop includes a basement PDR (six to 14 people) with its own service call button and 62” TV screen for your favourite films. Larger parties could take the whole floor, including the adjacent bar and karaoke room. By day this is where Nokx Majozi’s team creates peerless pies, pâté en croûtes and pithiviers for the Holborn Dining Room. The Viñoly Room @ Fenchurch, Sky Garden
Atop architect Rafael Viñoly’s famous Walkie-Talkie skyscraper you will find Sky Garden, a remarkable green space offering panoramic city views. At rooftop restaurant, Fenchurch, Anguilla-born chef Kerth Gumbs fuses his fine dining expertise with Caribbean influences in dishes such as pan-seared sea bass with salt cod, avocado, tomato, Gungo peas and wasabi tobiko (fish roe) or, on the tasting menu, his signature johnny cake (fried bread) with picked crab, scotch bonnet mayo and roe. Bar Rioja, King's Cross
Showcasing the wines of Rioja, this King’s X bar is available for private hire (28 people) and you can fold in tastings with owner-enthusiast, Richard Bigg. The Chef’s Library @ The Coal Shed, Brighton
Avid cooks will geek out over the cookbooks and antique kitchen equipment displayed in the 14-cover Chef’s Library. Sharing menus highlight the Shed’s charcoal-roasting skills across, for example, short-rib doughnuts, great steaks and dishes such as monkfish, mussels, vadouvan-spiced onions, yogurt and spinach. Kinneuchar Inn, Kilconquhar, Fife
This gorgeous rural inn has a burgeoning rep thanks to chef James Ferguson’s deft use of East Neuk’s abundant larder. The pub’s PDR, which seats 10 to 24 at a long elm table, has its own bar, conservatory and courtyard. The Bull, Charlbury
This Cotswolds pub is run by locals Phil Winser and James Gummer, the duo behind The Pelican in London. Its semi-private room can accommodate groups of 8-12 guests to enjoy the chef's seasonal, open-fire cooking based on produce from its own farm. Established in 1997, this legendary Mill Road deli-restaurant now includes a cute, covered garden space that can be booked for seated meals for up to 30 people (hire from £500).
