Sage releases new coffee machine the Oracle Jet and we got a first look
Sage has released its first new coffee machine in over a year – the Oracle Jet. Here's our first-look review, plus everything you need to know for if this is the right coffee machine for you
Sage is one of the UK's leading domestic coffee machine brands, and it has just released a brand-new bean-to-cup coffee machine, the Oracle Jet.
This sparkling new machine has a range of swanky features, including one that we've never seen on a coffee machine before.
We got a chance to test the Oracle Jet before its release in the UK, and found it an absolute dream to use. It combines automation and customisation, allowing us to make everything from latte art-topped flat whites to iced long blacks, without any hassle or too much mess.

When will Sage the Oracle Jet be available in the UK?
The new Sage coffee machine the Oracle Jet is available now in the UK. It was released on 15 October and is available online and in store at Sage, as well as at a range of UK retailers, including John Lewis & Partners, Harrods and Currys.
The Oracle Jet costs £1,699.95, which sets it toward the higher end of Sage's coffee machines in terms of cost, but isn't as much as its pricier older sibling, the Oracle Touch, which costs over £2,000.

Unboxing Sage the Oracle Jet
It goes without saying that the Oracle Jet looks beautiful straight out of the (now fully recyclable) box. As we'd expect from Sage, it's sleek and modern in design, but it's also smaller and lighter than many of the brand's other bean-to-cup offerings, which means it takes up less space on the countertop.
Compared to the Oracle Touch, it's 3cm smaller in all dimensions, plus 8kg lighter. It also has lockable wheels that pop out of the base, thanks to a lever at the front of the machine, so you can easily move it for cleaning.

Best features of Sage the Oracle Jet
The Oracle Jet has a host of features that we haven't seen on Sage's coffee machines before, and really sets it apart.
It's Sage's first coffee machine that connects to wifi – it's essentially a computer that can make delicious coffee. We've never seen this on a coffee machine before, and it means the machine can be remotely updated with new software when it's available, for example when adding new programming for a different type of drink.
One of our favourite things about this model is the number of user-friendly features. It has the intuitive touchscreen display that features on many of the brand's bean-to-cup models, but on the Oracle Jet it's had an upgrade, with a choice between dark or light mode for even more personalisation.
The swish features don't stop there though: this new model has lights that shine down over the drip tray, so you can see what you're doing in detail and have the spotlight shine over your coffee as it deserves.

What's the difference between Sage coffee machines?
Sage has lots of coffee machines in its range, and it can be difficult to know which one is right for you. The first thing to choose between is what type of coffee machine is right for you: bean-to-cup, espresso, coffee pod machine or filter coffee machine.
The Oracle Jet is a bean-to-cup machine, which means you put in whole coffee beans, and the machine has a built-in coffee grinder as well as everything you need for dosing and tamping the ground coffee.
When comparing the Oracle Jet to Sage's other bean-to-cup models, the main difference is speed. This model has moved away from the dual boiler system in favour of the ThermoJet, which means the machine heats up extremely quickly. So although it means you can't extract espresso and steam milk at the same time, it heats in a matter of seconds rather than minutes.
This is also Sage's first machine with cold-brewing technology, so you can extract espresso at chilled temperatures, which is ideal for a refreshing summer drink over ice.
